The simple tweak that spiked my traffic 30%

It's Sunday morning.  I wake up, turn on my computer, and start reading a free PDF I've been meaning to get to, called Authority Rules.  A few pages into it, I'm so inspired that I immediately implement one of the concepts on my blog No Meat Athlete.  A half hour later, I notice that traffic is really coming fast, and it's flowing to the posts that I consider my best, those most likely to strike a chord with the readers value most.  And it's not just the same old readers clicking around my blog — my daily visitors jumped from around 1100 to 1400 that day.  (And over 700 visitors from search engines didn't hurt!)

And it wasn't some homerun post that did it: I didn't post until 10 PM that night, and it was just a product review.

For me, it was Rule 3 of Authority Rules.  If you're interested in specifics, you can probably figure out what I did by looking at No Meat Athlete.  But don't get hung up on that; any of the rules might be the one that you need right now.

I'm keeping this post short so that you go download Authority Rules.  It's by Brian Clark of copyblogger.com, my latest I-can't-believe-how-much-killer-content-is-here obsession.  The PDF is free, and there's no email address required.

You're welcome.

I read the article but I'm still confused as to what you did to get the extra hits… can you help me figure it out?

    Hey Brittany,

Ok, since more than one person has told me they can't figure out what I did, I created landing pages for some of my best stuff. So instead of having posts buried in my best-of list, I created pages specifically about Natural Running Fuel and Boston Marathon Qualifying, which linked to all my posts. I tweeted about them and shared them on Facebook, and they've done really well with the social media sites and search engines.
